Born in Q4-1906 in Peckham, [Camberwell 1d:897], eldest son of Sidney Nobel and Beatrice Blanche HALLOWS (née ISAACSON).
1911 census...Aged 4, he was at 80 Acre Lane, Brixton with his father Sydney Noble HALLOWS [33] Actor born Chancery Lane,London; his mother Beatrice Blanche [29] actress born Peckham; widowed aunt Kate Lee ISAACSON [31] music teacher born Wardour St. Leicestwer Sq, London and his cousin Leslie Stewart ISAACSON [5] In 1936 he was living with his father at 55 Hamilton Road, Golders Green, Hendon. He was married in Q3-1937 in Marylebone to Murlis MacFARQUHAR, and in the 1939 register he was an ambulance driver, living at 55 Hamilton Road, Hendon with his wife Murlis [13-4-1914] a library manageress. A later address was "Russley", Woodditton Road, Newmarket. His widow remarried in 1943 in Surrey NE to Edward P.BLOOMFIELD. |

His AJEX card says he was first with 79 Squadron and had been stationed at Harwell, Didcot and Mildenhall. He was husband of Mrs M Hallows, of Russley, Wood Ditton Rd., Newmarket. He was killed in action on 30/10/40 and buried at Willesden Jewish cemetery in London in grave FX-13-554. His AJEX card states that the JC was notified on 1/11/40, published notification of his death on 8/11/40 and that he was buried on 4/11/40, the funeral being officiated by Rev. Gollomb, HCF.
The Battle of Britain clasp to the 39-45 Star was only awarded to those who flew in fighters and 79 Squadron used Hurricanes at the time. That book placed him in the Battle of Britain but he does not appear on the other lists of pilots,but these records are seldom complete. Vickers Wellington Mk 1C, T2546 (LN-?) took off from Newmarket on the 29th October 1940 for a raid on Berlin. On return, got lost and crashed in hill country near Otterburn, Northumberland, killing P/O Hallows, and injuring one other. The crew was F/Lt K.T.A. Harvey; Sgt Fortier; P/O Womack: Sgt Peach: Sgt Hill and P/O Hallows. His death was registered in Northumberland North 2nd Q4-1940 10B:878. |
